When you’re in an interview, honesty is the best policy. Getting fired may feel like a taboo subject or a knock on your wonderful qualities, but many people have been there and it’s an opportunity to show growth…when—and only when—you’re asked.
Sometimes you were just a cog in the wheel that broke, and sometimes you—and you alone—were the reason things went south. Show maturity by taking ownership and never blaming it on luck or anyone else. Here are something things you can say if the topic comes up in your interview:

It wasn’t the right position for me and I realize my skills did not match up to what was required. I’m very excited for this position because I will get to focus all my efforts on my strengths, such as (enter example here).
Bottom line: stick with honesty about why you were let go from your position if it comes up in the interview. Just be sure to show them what you’ve learned from the situation and how you plan to kick-rear-end this time around.
