When Should You Take College Activities off Your Resume?

Eventually the Save the Whales club you participated in for one semester your sophomore year of college isn’t going to do anything to make your resume sparkle on a recruiter’s desk. Take off college activities as soon as you have sufficient career experiences. Multiple jobs or a job that is thorough and shows progression negates the need for those college extracurriculars.

So what should remain in your education section? The name of your college, your degree, any honors you graduated with, your GPA if it makes you look good, and a nationally recognized organization like a sorority or fraternity. Including the year you graduated is still up for debate.

If you remove the activities and still have space to fill, include your interests to show your depth and inspire conversation, like hiking, reading, playing sports, music, writing, and saving the whales.
